How The Scheme Works
How the scheme works

Over the 12 months this is how your weeks will generally be:

4 Day Work Placement

  • For four days a week, you’ll be on a placement in one of our services.
  • You’ll receive a full induction at your work base and your role will be explained.
  • You’ll learn the skills required to do the job effectively, and build up responsibilities over time.
  • You’ll report to the Contract Manager or Team Leader and receive regular supervision. Our Managers and Team Leaders will play a key role in inspiring, supporting and facilitating your learning., You’ll also be allocated a ‘buddy’, a work colleague who you will shadow and be supported by.

1 Study Day

  • You’ll spend one day a week at a local college.
  • During this time, you’ll use the skills you’ve learned on your work placement and put them towards a practical, work-based qualification - NVQ in Health & Social Care.
  • At the college, you’ll also learn the theoretical knowledge you need to do the job - and will demonstrate this knowledge by doing the Health and Social Care Technical Certificate.
  • In addition, you’ll gain key transferable skills such as working in teams, problem-solving and communication - and will receive a Key Skills Qualification.
